On November 13, 2008, the Educational Foundation co-hosted with the Direct Marketing Association of Washington a special celebration honoring various award winners from the direct marketing community. The event was planned by a joint committee of DMAW and DMAWEF. The celebration, which was held at the National Geographic Society, featured an evening of entertainment, a networking cocktail hour, and a sit-down dinner.
Chief among the awards handed out each year is the DMAWEF's Sisk Award for Direct Marketing Vision. Other annual awards include the Award for Distinguished Achievement in Direct Marketing; the DMAW Volunteer of the Year Award; the John Swain Memorial Direct & Interactive marketing Scholarship; the Joan Throckmorton Award for Creative Excellent; the Rising Star Award, and the O'Hara Leadership Award.
